Controls that come with every room
Rank permissions
Each rank has its own toggle set. Only the ranks you allow can mute, kick, ban, delete or pin.
Moderation log
Actor, target, action and time, written for every moderation event and readable in the panel.
Message deletion
A message can be removed by a moderator with the permission, or by the person who wrote it.
Link filtering
Suspicious URLs are held for review instead of being published to the whole room.
Repeat troublemakers
Actions that stop an account coming straight back after a ban, applied quietly and logged like everything else.
Bans that hold
A ban stays in force when the nickname changes, so a fresh account does not simply replace the old one.
Guests are bounded
Guest accounts exist so people can try the room without registering, and they are deliberately short lived. You set how long a guest lasts.
Sessions you can end
If an account is ever at risk, an administrator can end its session from the control panel and the next thing it tries is refused. It stops showing as online within seconds.
What we store
- The account: nickname, email, the password in a form that cannot be read back, rank and status.
- The content: room messages, private messages, and the moderation log for them.
- The least needed to moderate: what enforces a ban, and what shows who is online.
We do not sell message history, and there is no third party advertising tracker on the room itself.
What you should do as an owner
- Pick two or three moderators before you get busy, not after.
- Leave Delete any message off for ranks that do not need it.
- Read the moderation log weekly; it is the fastest way to spot a moderator abusing the role.
- Decide whether guests belong in your room. For most communities the answer is no.
