ChatSocket / Ranks and Permissions

Identities that matter

Make as many ranks as your community needs

ChatSocket starts with seven built-in ranks, but you are not limited to seven. Add as many more as you want, each with its own colour, badge, powers and entry message.

Beyond the default seven

The room ships with Owner, Founder, Admin, Moderator, VIP, Member and Guest. That covers most rooms, but communities grow: you might want a Donor rank, a Regular, a Team, a Bot or a Legacy rank. Add them from the control panel in seconds. There is no cap on how many ranks you create.

What each rank carries

Colour

The name colour shown in the roster and above every message that rank sends.

Badge

A small icon next to the name so members can spot staff and VIPs at a glance.

Entry message

A line that appears when someone of that rank joins the room, welcoming them or announcing their arrival.

Powers

A set of toggles that decide what that rank can do: mute, kick, ban, delete, pin and more.

Permission toggles

Every rank has a row of permission toggles in the control panel. Flip one and it takes effect immediately, no restart needed. The permissions cover:

Assigning ranks

Owners and Admins can change any member's rank from the user list or from their profile. The change is instant and the new rank colours and badge appear right away. You can also set a default rank for new members and for guests.
